Hot Cocoa Bar

Merry Christmas Eve friends!

I wanted to share a hot cocoa bar I threw together on our back porch. Living in Florida its not too cold to entertain outside during the holiday season.

It only takes a couple of essentials to make it happen. You can add anything you’d like.

You can go all out or keep it simple like I did.

It’s always great to have a drink station set up for your guests! Makes things much more simple when they know exactly where to go!

Merry Christmas!

Jesus is the reason for the Season!

Dining room makeover and a table

Happy Thursday Friends!

I wanted to show you the progress of our dining area. Once again, it's amazing how a can of  paint can change the look so drastically.

Scroll on down to see the difference.

This is what it looked like when we went to see the home. We knew the potential that it had. We both fell in love with the layout and  immediately decided that this is something that we wanted!

This is the day we got the keys!

In the meantime I needed to make over my dining table. I was tired of the dark legs and reddish wood top.

I stripped the top and then put a top coat on it. I painted the legs with AS pure white chalk paint. My hubby cut the legs down a bit so I could use my  Ballard Designs dining chairs.

Here is the finished room. We love the lighter look and feel. It feels clean and airy!

I hope you all have a great day!

Mini Fall Home Tour

Happy Fall Y'all! What better day than today to create a Fall post of areas in my home. I woke up to 55 degree weather. The chill in the air is what I long for all year! It's crisp, clean and feels amazing. We opened our doors and windows last night. I love this time of year!

If you follow me on  Instagram, you've seen most of these Fall pictures. However, I wanted to combine them into a Fall Home Tour Post!

My bedroom is a work in progress. But, it's coming right along nicely. I added a little pumpkin and a few cotton stems to bring a fall feel into it.

My dining room is coming along as well. We have so much to do, but have made such a huge progress in the last three months. My hubby is an amazing supporter and supports my crazy ideas!

Our Entry way feels cozy and welcoming. I'm loving my old trunk in this space!

Coffee mugs and candles always scream fall to me! While I drink coffee year round, there is something special about drinking coffee in the fall, or is that just me? :)

Donuts, Pumpkins? Pumpkin donuts, I don't know! :)

I'm also loving my fireplace. This focal point in our home is very cozy! We are counting the days to light up this baby!

I hope you all have a great day!

Workin it Wednesday - Making Home Cozy

Good Morning,

We're talking Making a Home Cozy today! Grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a visit through blog city.

I'm linking up with Mix Match Mama today to bring you a version of what I think makes a home cozy.

First, I believe a welcoming area as your guests enter your home can set the feel for the visit.

I also believe having something sweet ready and available helps make it cozy. Sweets are a comfort food at least for me :)

And of course, COFFEE. Coffee and conversations are some of my best memories. I like to have decaf on hand. I can't drink caffeine at night or I'll be staring at the ceilings, while everyone else is snoozing. I like to have a variety of flavors as well. Everyone has different tastes and preferences.

If you have a fireplace, strike a fire during the cold winter months. How cozy is a fire?

And that's my little ideas of how to make a home more cozy! I also like to leave a couple of candles burning. Candles are cozy!

I hope you all have a great day!

Rustic Elegant Fall Mantle

Happy Monday Friends! I wanted to share my simple, little bit of rustic Fall mantle with you! Being that it was our first fall in our new home, I changed my mantlescape so many times. I just couldn't get the coloring right.

I used to love the warmer tones that fall brings, but it wasn't working for me this time. I chose to go with cooler tones and they worked perfectly for my space.

I added a few candle sticks, pumpkins and olive branches and I'm loving it!

You can click here and see the before of this fireplace! The transformation is amazing!

I can't wait until we can strike a fire.

I hope you all have a great week!

Chicken Taco Soup

I made the best chicken taco soup yesterday. So good that my family requested I make it often. I thought I'd share the recipe with you!

Ingredients:
Chicken Tenders -2 pounds or so
1-Packet of Ranch dip mix
2- packets of taco seasoning
1- 15 oz can of black beans
1- large can of chili beans in mild sauce
2- 15 oz can diced tomatoes
2- cups of frozen corn
32 ounces of chicken stock (add more if you prefer really soupy)
S&P
Chicken Grill Mate seasoning for chicken (McCormick's)

Season chicken with s&p and chicken seasoning. Sear or brown on both sides about two minutes, chop into bite size pieces. Transfer into a slow cooker.

( I used my All Clad slow cooker insert to sear my chicken tenders on stove top about two minutes on both sides. Then, chop into bite size pieces.)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and cook on high for 4 1/2 hours.

Garnish with cheese of your choice.
Avocado optional.

Serve over rice.

Enjoy!

Simply delicious!

Weekend in Review!

Happy Monday! Whew, another fun weekend in the books! We were on the go all weekend. Had a lot of fun and seen a lot of family, which is the most important aspect of my weekend.

However, we heard we went to the Zoo, but for the life of us, we just don't know when that happened, considering it's been years since we've been there!

Of course the first thing Saturday morning I woke up and enjoyed coffee while the others slept.

Then this cutie woke up and wanted to make waffles! So, we did. I got my  waffle iron out and he mixed up the batter.

Taste testing...

He was so proud!

Then our friends and family came up and we went to the pond for a few hours. Got way too much sun.

He once again wanted to cook. He cooked himself  eggs for dinner.

Sunday morning I got up and had my coffee on our back porch before the house started stirring...

He got up and cooked eggs for all of us! They were delicious!

The boys went to church. I stayed home and soaked in vinegar because I got way too much sun on Saturday! Not at all fun!! I was miserable! I laid around with this cutie!

I wish I would have documented much more because we had a great weekend!

I hope you all have a great week!
